Sitting bad for your health, even if you work out, study reports

October 16, 2012

A study reported in the journal Diabetologia found long hours of sitting boosts your risk of diabetes, heart disease and death.

Researchers say the average adult spends 50 to 70 percent of their time sitting, so the findings have far reaching implications.

Experts say people can reduce their time sitting, for example, by breaking up long periods at the computer, placing a work laptop on a filing cabinet and even have standing meetings.
