The boy was freshman football player at Prosser Career Academy when the bullying allegedly happened a year ago.
The attorney for the family says the student was beaten with belts and taunted after he left the practice field because of shortness of breath. He has asthma.
Chicago Public Schools says it can't comment on pending litigation, but also said bullying and hazing are not tolerated by the district.
