2 elderly Chicago men missing for days

Bernard Widero, 74, has been missing from Old Town since October 8, approximately 10 days. Jose Arevalo, 84, has been missing from West Town since Friday, approximately six days.

Widero is white, 5'6", 120 lbs., with brown eyes and gray hair. He went missing from the 1800-block of North Wells. He was last seen around noon Oct. 8 at Nookies restaurant, which he frequents often in the 1700-block of North Wells.

Police say Widero frequents the area of Columbia College. His family says he was due to refill several prescriptions this month and has not done so at all in October. He was also due to retrieve eye glasses from his eye doctor on last Saturday. And he failed to do so. He does not drive. He left his Illinois state I.D. at his residence.

Arevalo is Hispanic, 5'10", 180 lbs., with brown eyes and gray hair. He suffers from Alzheimer's and wandered away from his residence in the 1600-block of West Ontario. He was last seen wearing a dark, long-sleeved shirt, black leather jacket, blue jeans and dark blue shoes.

Arevalo was once located in the area of 47th and Lake Shore Drive.
