2 hurt in separate police-involved shootings on Wolcott and Drexel

October 29, 2012 (CHICAGO)

In the first incident, police say they found three men shooting up a home in the 5700-block of South Wolcott Thursday night. Officers say one of them pointed a gun at a police officer, who then shot the man in the leg.

Two people are in custody in that shooting. Officers are looking for the third suspect.

The second police-involved shooting happened a short time later in the 8200-block of South Drexel after police say they were flagged down by the victim of an armed robbery. Authorities say they began pursuing a man matching the description of the suspect, and a foot chase began. During that chase, police say the man pointed a gun at an officer, who then shot the man.

Chicago police say the Independent Police Review Authority is investigating.
