The number of children and teens dying from diabetes has dropped more than 60 percent over the past four decades, according to numbers from The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
Possible reasons for this could include improved diabetes care and treatment and increased awareness, researchers said.
The biggest decline in diabetes-related deaths occurred in children under the age of 10 with a 78 percent decline. The study did find a slight increase in deaths in children aged 10 to19 which has health officials calling for improved diabetes diagnosis and care for this group.
