Study: are home blood pressure monitors useful?

Overall, the devices did not help stroke sufferers get a better handle on their blood pressure during a one year period, researchers said.

The exception was for patients whose blood pressure was poorly controlled at the study's start. Those patients were able to cut an average of 11 points from their systolic blood pressure, the top number in the reading. That is a meaningful difference, experts said.
