Chicago Public Schools wants to introduce a new policy to help students make healthy food choices.

The measure updates guidelines for healthy food and drinks in schools across the district.

It includes items offered in vending machines and encourages schools to promote healthy options during in-class celebrations.

The standards are clearly outlined in the policy and place strict limits in areas such as calories per serving -- saturated fat and sodium

The new policy will be presented Wednesday to the Board of Education.
