Nearly 15,000 lights are glowing on Chicago's official 2012 Christmas tree at Daley Plaza after they were turned on for the first time Tuesday afternoon.

The 64-foot Colorado spruce was donated by the Theiszmann family of northwest suburban Prospect Heights.

They joined Mayor Rahm Emanuel for Tuesday afternoon's tree lighting.
