Wrong-way driver causes accident on I-90; 3 hurt

November 25, 2012 (ROSEMONT, Ill.)

A wrong-way driver collided into another vehicle on westbound I-90 near River Road around 5:15 a.m.

Truck driver Craig Jones said he did not hesitate to help.

It was not clear why the driver was traveling in the wrong direction.

"These two cars collided. The car on the left was on fire. So, I stopped my truck, pulled the driver out, used my extinguisher on his car, and then I helped the other driver out, and then the passenger was stuck there," Jones said.

Three people were hospitalized, but none of the injuries was life-threatening.

The driver of that wrong way vehicle is in custody and cited with driving under the influence.

The Tollway was back open after the accident on Sunday, a busy travel day.
