Metra to use smartphone technology

Metra plans to have a consultant work out details of the technology and have a pilot program in place by summer. Tickets on the phone would be scanned by conductors.

The rail agency also plans on a pilot program to figure out the best technology for creating a universal fare system with the CTA and Pace.
