Daley nephew pleads not guilty in Gold Coast death

December 10, 2012 (CHICAGO)

Richard Vanecko appeared at an arraignment Monday morning.

Last week a grand jury indicted Vanecko for involuntary manslaughter in the 2004 death of 21-year-old David Koschman.

The grand jury is continuing its inquiry into whether authorities covered up or impeded an investigation of a relative of the city's most powerful man.

Former U.S. Attorney Dan Webb is special prosecutor in the case. He says the grand jury has reviewed thousands of documents and interviewed more than 50 witnesses.

Koschman's family has contended there was a police cover-up, and because of that, asked for a special prosecutor.
