Barrington Unit District 220 officials canceled Saturday night's school dance and girls' basketball game.
The events were canceled after some students reported hearing others discussing bringing a gun to the dance.
A similar threat was made back in 2008 before the school's prom.
Police are investigating Saturday night's threat.
