Boy hit and killed by freight train in northwest Indiana

The boy, identified as Jaylen Harris, was hit on the CSX railroad tracks near Baring and Lewis Place just before 4:00 p.m. Saturday.

Witnesses say the boy lived nearby. Train safety is an ongoing problem, according to neighbors.

Investigators are trying to figure out why the boy was on the tracks.
