Father's mental health might impact toddler's behavior

A soon-to-be father's mental health could have a direct impact on his toddler's behavior.

Traditional view has been that this risk in large part is represented by the mother.

Now, a new study has found that children of the most distressed men in the study struggled the most emotionally at age 3. Experts say there could be a genetically transmitted risk to the child, but they are not sure.

Authors say the study in Pediatrics points to the fact that a father's mental health represents a risk factor for child development.
