Digital fork can help cut calories

January 10, 2013

The gadget was introduced at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas.

"The Happy Fork" was created to help its users cut calories. It monitors how long it takes to eat a meal. It also lets users know if they are eating too fast.

If a user takes more than one bite every 10 seconds, the fork vibrates.

Inventors of the fork say using it can help cut calories by 11 percent. They also say it can help combat diabetes, and over time, can train users to eat more slowly.

Nutritionists say people who eat too quickly risk eating too much.
