A former Des Plaines police commander faces federal charges.

Fifty-five-year old Timothy Veit is accused of making false statements about DUI arrests in federal funding reports.

Prosecutors say Veit inflated the number of drunk driving arrests for the Des Plaines Police Department.

Des Plaines received more than $132,000 in federal reimbursement funds for overtime compensation because of those reports.
