Governor Pat Quinn wants the arts to be an engine for what he calls economic and social growth in Illinois.

The governor spoke at the Arts Alliance Council's Make Art Work forum Tuesday morning. He is calling for investment in the arts in Illinois as a way to create jobs.

The governor joked that he is an ideal spokesman for the state's arts community because he's the first governor in state history to play the cello.
