Special prosecutor to be appointed to look into 5 Burge cases

A special prosecutor will be appointed to look into the cases of five men who say they were victimized by former Chicago Police Commander Jon Burge.

The men say they confessed to crimes after torture by Burge and others under his command.

The special prosecutor will decide if those men should get new trials.

The judge says a special prosecutor is necessary because the state's attorney's office has a conflict of interest in the Burge case.
