A new movie in theatres Friday night tells the story of legendary baseball player Jackie Robinson and how he broke down color barriers.

There was a film cutting before the movie '42' played Friday night at the Chatham 14 Theaters on 87th Street. Players for two local youth baseball teams took part.

The film document's Robinson's first season with the Brooklyn Dodgers and the challenges he faced being the first African American player in the majors.

Robinson's widow says it was tough but they had faith things could change.

"I think in the final analysis it's how to meet a challenge. To see challenges not as obstacles but as opportunities," Rachel Robinson said.

The movie '42' opened just three days before the 66th anniversary of Robinson's first game with the Dodgers.
