An ex-Marine arrested in Evergreen Park was expected to be sent back to California to face hate crime charges in the coming week.

John O'Leary, 21, is accused of attacking two men outside a gay bar in Long Beach, Calif., back in September 2012.

O'Leary was in jail in the Chicago area Sunday, following his arrest last Monday.

Long Beach police say O'leary went to the gay bar, began shouting anti-gay slurs at closing time and got into a fight with two men.

Three other Marines were arrested along with O'Leary, but they were not charged.
