Cook County Attorney General Anita lavages presented the "Courage Award" to Esperanza Medina.
Medina was recognized for the strength she demonstrated after two women threw acid in her face.
She now advocates for laws restricting acid sales.
"We always think we don't have strength until we find them and then we can go on," said Medina.
Our colleague Karen Jordan was mistress of ceremonies for Tuesday night's event, which also honored members of the Alliance Against Intoxicated Motorists for supporting victims of drunk driving.
