Matthew Boban first reportedly grabbed an 84-year-old woman's purse inside a Jewel store in Joliet. Authorities say he then drove to a New Lenox Jewel, where he grabbed an 80-year-old woman's purse.
Boban then headed eastbound on I- 80 and rear-ended a semi, police say.
According to police, the two purses were recovered in some bushes near the crash site.
