It was held Monday morning at Holy Sepulchre Catholic Cemetery in Alsip.
This year, the archdiocese of Chicago joined a national program to honor military members, "serving god and country, a Memorial Day salute to our heroes."
Masses were held at 37 cemeteries across the Chicago area.
During each service, active military members and veterans received a special blessing.
