Severe Thunderstorm Warning for Will, Kankakee, Iroquois Counties until 11:45 p.m.

The National Weather Service issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning effective until 11:45 p.m. CST for Iroquois County, Kankakee County, Will County in Illinois and effective in Benton County, Jasper County, Lake County, Newton County and Porter County in Indiana until 12:45 p.m. EST.

The National Weather Service issued a Severe Thunderstorm Watch until 1 a.m. for COOK, DUPAGE, FORD, GRUNDY, IROQUOIS, KANE, KANKAKEE, KENDALL, LAKE, MCHENRY, and WILL counties in Illinois, and BENTON, JASPER, LAKE, NEWTON, and PORTER counties in Indiana.

In Indiana, as many as 2,000 people are without power after strong storms knocked down powerlines.

A flash flood watch is in effect for Boone; Cook; De Kalb; DuPage; Ford; Grundy; Iroquois; Kane; Kankakee; Kendall; Lake; Lee; McHenry; Ogle; Will; Winnebago.

A WATCH means conditions are favorable for activity in and close to the area. A WARNING means a thunderstorm or tornado has materialized.
