Cubs one step closer to more night games at Wrigley Field

June 4, 2013 (CHICAGO)

The plan for more night games is part of a $500 million proposal by the Ricketts family to renovate the historic ballpark.

The vote by the panel came after a crowd of Wrigleyville residents, Chicago Cubs fans and team officials packed into a City Hall hearing room. Under the proposal, the Cubs would be allowed to schedule 35 night games each season. At least five more could be added to satisfy baseball television contracts.

The full council could vote on the plan Wednesday.
