Greeley died at his Chicago home last week at the age of 85. His funeral Mass was held Wednesday at Christ the King Church in the Beverly neighborhood on the city's South Side.
Greeley wrote more than 50 best-selling books -- many of them international mystery thrillers and dozens of nonfiction works -- that were translated into 12 languages during his five decade career.
Greeley also penned a widely circulated weekly newspaper column on the relationship between religion and politics.
