Ohio police officers target kids for traffic 'tickets,' reward safe bikers

June 5, 2013 (BRIMFIELD, Ohio)

The Brimfield Police Department is giving kids free coupons for ice cream cones at a local drive-in as part of the department's annual "Operation Safe Summer."

"Effective next week, my officers will have a quota for tickets....at least one per shift. We are going to be profiling, too. We will target a specific group, with the express purpose of writing as many tickets as possible," Chief David Oliver wrote on the department's Facebook page.

Parents from the Brimfield community have been posting pictures of their children with their "tickets" on the department's page as well.
