The accident happened at 87th and Michigan on Chicago's South Side.
Heavy police activity and emergency response teams could be seen as Chopper 7 HD flew over the area.
Officials say they have declared the scene a level 1 hazmat.
The car, which may have been traveling at a high rate of speed, hit the building sideways.
ABC7 Traffic Reporter Roz Varon says 87th Street remains blocked between the Dan Ryan and Indiana Avenue as officials work the scene, and traffic has been detoured.
