Two officers, two adults and three children were all hospitalized, authorities said.
Witnesses said the squad car was responding to a call when it drove through a red light at 76th and Halsted. Witnesses claimed that the police car did not have its siren on.
The car hit an SUV, which overturned. Another vehicle was also involved.
None of the injuries appear to be life-threatening, and the cause of the accident is under investigation.
