Police: John Warna, 95, killed during assisted living facility stand-off was 'acting aggressively'

July 29, 2013 (PARK FOREST, Ill.)

In a statement released Monday, the police department says the assisted living facility where John Warna lived followed state regulations and followed proper procedures.

Officers were called to the Victory Centre facility last Friday, after Warna allegedly threatened staff with a cane and knife.

Investigators say officers tried to subdue the 95-year-old with a stun gun and beanbag rounds.

Warna later died of blunt force trauma to the abdomen.
