Judge throws out Chicago Teacher's Union request to keep CPS schools open

A Cook County judge has rejected a request to keep ten Chicago public schools open.

The Chicago Teachers Union filed the lawsuit for a group of parents.

The suit said the district ignored recommendations by the independent hearing officers appointed to help make closure decisions.

The judge ruled the hearing officers' decision did not have binding authority over which schools were closed.
