The one-vehicle crash involving a Chevy Suburban occurred about 12:20 a.m. in the southbound lanes of I-57 near 99th Street, according to an Illinois State Police trooper for District Chicago.
After the driver of the Suburban lost control, the vehicle careened up and embankment before coming to a rest on its roof at the edge of the interstate's tree line.
Nine of the eleven people hospitalized were juveniles, according to Fire Media Affairs.
Two were in critical condition, four were seriously injured and five others suffered minor injuries, according to Fire Media Affairs, who did not provide hospital information.
