Preschoolers who drink sugary drinks more likely to become obese, researchers say

August 5, 2013

Researchers at the University of Virginia tested nearly 10,000 children when they were ages 2, 4 and 5.

The study suggests 5-year-olds who had at least one sugary beverage each day were 43 percent more likely to be obese than those who drank the sweet drinks less frequently.

Researchers say the link between obesity and sugary drinks has been less documented among pre-schoolers.
