Ruth Rothstein, health administrator, dies at 90

Ruth Rothstein, the health administrator who served as the first chief of the Cook County Bureau of Health passed away on Sunday. She recently had a stroke.

Her ground-breaking career included a stint as CEO of Chicago's Mount Sinai Hospital.

Rothstein is credited with reviving the troubled Cook County Hospital and setting up the Rothstein Core Clinics around the city, which help treat patients with infectious diseases.

Rothstein was 90 years old.
