CPS is eliminating 15 district-mandated tests, including the fall standardized testing for all grades.
In a news release, CPS said the new assessment policy was guided by the input of parents, teachers, students and principals.
"In fact, since February, CPS has [hosted] 17 focus groups to gather feedback on the new assessment policy, including feedback from 450 teachers who responded to a CPS survey on how to best modify the district's assessment policy," the release said.
The district says the change will allow school leaders and teachers more autonomy in establishing assessments.
