Researchers have been working for decades to find a cure for Alzheimer's, now they may have uncovered a trigger for the disease.

The common mineral copper could prevent toxins from leaving the brain, according to a new study. The findings were published in Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences and recorded after tests on lab mice.

Copper is found in everything from drinking water to red meat. Don't stay away from it yet. The mineral is important for the body's nervous system development, bone growth and hormone secretion.
