World's oldest living NHL player turns 100

August 31, 2013 (LAGRANGE HIGHLANDS, Ill.)

Al Suomi played for the Blackhawks for five games between 1936-1937. Suomi had been playing semi-pro hockey in Detroit when he got a telegram from the Blackhawks to come to Chicago.

Suomi played for five games while the team experimented with an "all-American" line in favor of Canadian-born players.

He lives in suburban LaGrange Highlands--and still roots for the Blackhawks, of course.
