Labor Day parades kick off in Chicago area

September 2, 2013 (CHICAGO)

The Wellington-Oakdale Old Glory Marching Society has its annual Labor Day Parade starting at 11 a.m. at Pine Grove and Wellington in Chicago. This year marks the Woogms Parade's 50th year, and you probably know what makes this one different: Everyone is encouraged to march instead of watch!

Lowell, Indiana's parade was set to kick off at 10 a.m. at the community's high school. It honors the state's fallen heroes.

One of southern Cook Counties' largest Labor Day celebrations is at the Harvey pumping station. It includes live music, family entertainment, poetry and more, starting at 1 p.m.

And Naperville's parade was expected to draw a big crowd. It starts at 10 a.m. at Naperville North High School.
