Chicago cooling centers

September 10, 2013 (CHICAGO)

Be sure to check on elderly neighbors and those with chronic health issues who may need your assistance. Try to limit your outdoor activities and avoid direct sunlight. Remember to hydrate by drinking plenty of fluids. Wear appropriate loose fitted and light colored clothing.

Wear a hat and apply sun screen with an SPF rating of 15 or greater. DO NOT leave the elderly, children or pets inside of a parked car. Temperatures inside of a car can rise to dangerous levels causing serious injury or death. Keep pets in a shaded area and provide them with plenty of water. These tips can help to keep you and your loved ones safe from the heat.
