More than a dozen cities in Illinois are encouraging drivers to make a pledge not to drive while texting. It's part of the state's "It Can Wait" campaign against distracted driving.
Secretary of State Jesse White even took a turn on a distracted driving simulator which shows the difficulty of driving safely while texting.
"You're sitting in your car, worried about spelling, sentence structure and hitting the keys," White said. "The question is asked: who's driving the car? No one."
Secretary White says the campaign has inspired 2.-5 million people to pledge not to text while driving.
