According to an initial investigation by police, two security officers responded to a fight that occurred in the school hallway between two female students. As security officers attempted to break up the fight one male guard, 54, fell against a school locker and was injured. As the guard appeared to be in distress, South Holland paramedics were called to assist.
The security guard was transported to Ingalls Hospital, and pronounced dead around 1:30 p.m. Thursday.
An autopsy to determine the cause of death is pending.
Thornwood High School is located at 17101 S. Park Avenue and is part of Thorntown Township High School District 205.
