People packed into Holy Name Cathedral for a mass in his honor. Bishop Lyne once served as pastor there.
He died Wednesday at the age of 94.
Bishop Lyne was born in Chicago. He was named auxiliary bishop in 1983 and remained pastor of Holy Name until 1990.
