Bird strike sends OC-bound plane back to O'Hare

October 8, 2013 (CHICAGO)

American Airlines flight 1076, a Boeing 737-800, hit at least one bird during takeoff about 8:30 a.m.

The aircraft, carrying 109 passengers and a crew of five, was headed to Orange County, California. The captain declared an emergency and returned to O'Hare safely at about 8:45 a.m. AA maintenance inspected the aircraft and determined it could refuel and redepart.
