Lake Shore Drive crash: All lanes reopen at S-curve after city truck flips

October 16, 2013 (CHICAGO)

A Chicago Department of Streets & Sanitation semi truck flipped about 2 p.m.

The semi took a hard turn and a grinder flipped off the back, spilling into lanes in both directions, police said. No other vehicles were involved. Details on injuries were not immediately available.

Southbound no. 146 Inner Drive/Michigan Express and no. 147 Outer Drive Express buses are temporarily rerouted between Belmont and North avenues, according to the CTA. Lanes were expected to reopen at 3:30 p.m.

A Chicago Streets and Sanitation grinding truck flipped over the cement barricade into the north bound lanes.

Southbound traffic is still backed up all the way to Montrose. The vehicle has been removed. But crews are cleaning up the wreckage.
