Lake Shore Drive crash: All lanes reopen at S-curve after city truck flips

A Chicago Streets and Sanitation semi-truck flipped in the S-Curve on Lake Shore Drive, bringing traffic to a standstill for hours on Wednesday. The wreck was cleared and lanes were reopened by 6 p.m. Wednesday.

The city truck flipped about 2 p.m. after taking a hard turn. The grinding truck flipped onto its back, spilling into lanes in both directions, police said. That led to all lanes on Lake Shore Drive being closed for awhile.

No other vehicles were involved in the crash. Details on injuries were not immediately available.

Several buses were rerouted and traffic was backed up for miles while crews worked to remove the grinding truck.
