George Washington Thanksgiving proclamation on display

A Thanksgiving Day proclamation signed by President George Washington will on display Thursday in Chicago.

Christie's will display the proclamation at its office in the John Hancock Center until 4 p.m.

The proclamation dated October 3, 1789, Washington recommends November 26 be a "day of public thanksgiving and prayer."

A Christie's spokesperson there is only one other known copy of the proclamation, and it's housed in the Library of Congress.
