Two thousand flags will dot a so-called Healing Field at West Aurora High School. An opening ceremony is at 1 p.m. The salute to veterans will remain in place through November 13.
The 15th annual Veterans Ride takes place today. Bikers begin lining up at 8am and will leave the Tinley Park Convention Center at 10am for a ride to the Manteno Veterans Home. The event is free but donation to veterans groups are welcomed.
In West Chicago, the DuPage County Forest Preserve District invites you to Meet the Beekeepers at Kline Creek Farm. They'll show you bees and talk about their work today from 1:30 until 3:30. It's free.
In Northwest Indiana, the Family Fall Fair will take place from noon until 6pm at the Dome in Crown Point. There are vendors selling crafts and the police and fire departments will demonstrate search and rescue techniques. It's free!
