November 16, 2013 (KEY WEST, Fla.)

Hemingway screened "Running from Crazy," on Friday night. The documentary explores her family's history of mental illness and her efforts to escape it, on the island where her late grandfather Ernest Hemingway lived during the 1930s.

She also hosted a reception at the Ernest Hemingway Home & Museum, where her grandfather penned classics including "To Have and Have Not."

Other standouts among about 35 films in the festival include "I Am Divine," spotlighting a transvestite performer and featuring Waters; "Cubamerican," portraying the Cuban exile experience, and "Bending Steel," detailing strongman Chris Schoeck's physical strength and emotional struggles.

The festival continues through Sunday.
