Cook County sheriff's police officers are now patrolling in south suburban Robbins.

Sheriff Tom Dart made the announcement via Twitter Saturday.

Robbins Police Chief Mel Davis was fired Wednesday night following a state investigation into the apparently phony law enforcement history of a part-time captain.

A spokesperson says there will be four sheriff's police officers and a sergeant in Robbins at all times.
