Illinois Secretary of State Jesse White is cracking down on people who park illegally in spots reserved for drivers with disabilities.

A sting will take place during the holiday shopping season.

Police issued more than 160 citations in a similar program last year.

Drivers caught misusing a disability placard face a six-month suspension of their license and a $500 fine.

Parking in a handicap accessible spot without a placard is a $350 fine.
